The next release on Lazy Days is a forgotten track by Canadian singer/songwriter coco cognac brown. Originally scheduled to come out on Andy Roberts’s Mixed Signals label in 2011 with a remix by Ottawa’s Rise Ashen. My good friend Trevor Walker, a close collaborator of Rise, has been playing his version religiously since and I kept inquiring about it. I finally decided to track down coco with the help of Andy and convinced her to release it from the vault and out to the world. I invited Trevor to my studio earlier this year to work on the Remix together, channeling some influence from 90s house producers such as FK, Mood || Swing, Murk and Salt City Orchestra.

Rise Ashen’s version still sounds fresh after close to 10 years. His version draws directly from the raw spiritual message of the song, mixing organic and electronics with live kalimbas and brush snares.
