The Pete Moss Remixes

Colette

Candy Talk Records
CTR020 | 2020-08-31
Decisively pushing forward, Candy Talk Records is back with its twentieth release, a compilation of her works remixed by the East Coast house music don, Mr. Pete Moss!

This six-track compilation sets his remix work against an iconoclastic new video of "Call On Me" by label head Colette & Joshua Heath. This video has taken her first release on Candy Talk Records (CTR001) and reimagined its visuals through the looking glass of the Stay-at-Home orders of March and April 2020.

It's with this label's debut release and video premiere that sees the brand new mixes of the first Candy Talk release, again, be reimagined, this time aurally by the genre-bending artist, Pete Moss. He delivers two contemporary versions of this Colette classic, in a way that is distinctly its own.

The main "Pete Moss Remix" of "Call On Me" explores spectral sonics of futuristic acid house, where the 303 is no longer in the conversation, but the same spatial design, driving rhythmic and stabbing grooves are intact. Moss really drives this point home with his "Pete Moss Dub" keeping the same sublime sonic backdrop of the main vocal mix, but allowing the dubbed-out vocals and reverberated elements to fill the space and time.

Also featured on this compilation of works are Pete Moss's highly praised reworkings of the Fleetwood Mac cover "Dreams" (CTR017) and his layers of filtered synthetics in the "Physically" (CTR019) mixes. The addition of these two brand new mixes with his already celebrated recent works for Colette makes this label remixer retrospective a must-have for every discerning dance floor.
