PEATY's upcoming single, "Bamako," transcends mere reinterpretation; it emerges as a sonic griot, deftly intertwining echoes of the past with modern electronic finesse. The gripping resonance of the ngoni within Afel Bacoum’s titular homage to his mentor, Malian musical luminary, “Ali Farka” finds a new dimension, amplified within a vibrant tableau of intricate polyrhythmic patterns, hypnotic percussion and ethereal electronic tinctures. Ali Farka’s unwavering spirit, captured in the 2006 classic, remains steadfast in “Bamako,” undulated by poignant vocals across eras, Bacoum’s rasp, the anchor tethering past to the present. Emanating the deep connection between the two artists through pulsating basslines and iridescent synth layers, PEATY constructs a portal. With timeless harmonies and intuitive rhythms, “Bamako,” underscores that in music, stories and emotions endure—they drift like embers, reigniting, binding moments across the vast expanse of existence.
