Sengiley meets a young and promising guy from Barcelona, house duo Fontana!
Their three-track release "Lothargic Nights" takes the signature old House sound a little further with hard-hitting drums, a crisp low end and more technical production than any other Fontana project.
Lothargic Nights was written by the guys back in September last year and we immediately found out when we left the studio that we had something special. This track features both Rhodes-y-90 House and a more modern hard House beat to compete on the dance floor. The nostalgic feeling for the keys actually came from a lot of looking for the right sample to start with - although it's something pretty standard for our productions. Sometimes creating a Fontana song can feel more like a trial grind for an old-school hip-hop record than creating a modern dance track. You can actually hear it in the vocals that the duo sent to the track.
Straight Ahead - came out of the same sessions as Lothargic Nights - as soon as the guys started building instruments for the retro-hard House sound, several tracks came to the place quite smoothly. In this song, we spend a lot of time getting a groove and a mix of the right lower end, which was worth it to hear the smooth synths sliding through all these interconnected rhythms. And then a sample from the artist whose music inspires Fontana - James Brown - will never hurt a single track! You can hear James Brown's influence on our basslines on every track of the EP.
Make Me Feel - appeared as a solo track by Dan, recorded in the studio around 12 o'clock, completely tied to Ableton. The final result is more inspired by Lofi than the other tracks, but with a dreamy groove that definitely gives it an easier touch than the other two. We like the synths and buggy FX drum in this one.
Lothargic Nights EP has a progressive house component, a perfect working bass and a structure that will certainly make you move on the dance floor. We are sure that this music will delight your ears and give you unforgettable moments at parties.
