Nestled in the hills of the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal in the Kasi of Imbali in Pietermaritzburg lies an institution that - beyond being a vibrant pub and restaurant offering indigenous cuisine (called Shisanyama) where upwardly mobile men and women and trendy youth rub shoulders with locals - has established itself as a mecca for deep & soulful house music.
Never compromising, 033 Lifestyle has continuously supported the house scene not only of those emerging from Southern Africa, but also arists emanating from outside its boundaries, hosting the country's best house DJ's and electronic acts as well as selected overseas guests including Black Coffee, Culoe De Song, Rocco, UPZ, Abicah Soul, N'Dinga Gaba, Ralf Gum, Euphonic, Glen Lewis, Lars Behrenroth and many more.
The sounds you will hear during buzzing weekend afternoons and stretching deep into the nights are those of Deep, Jazzy, Soulful and Afro House...sometimes moody, sometimes uplifting but always grooving. 033 Lifestyle continuously supports and nurtures the deep house sounds produced by young up-and-coming talent around Pietermaritzburg, and these, together with more experienced producers, have been given a voice to showcase their skills on the 033 Lifestyle compilation. The compilation was lovingly compiled by soWHAT head honcho UPZ and 033 Lifestyle resident DJ's Spice Libra & Paul Vergo.
