MASTER MELLO

Born Mluleki Runeyi, Master Mello's journey into the world of music started at the Nelson Mandela University (then PE Technikon) where he met a group of friends who were part of a campus radio station, Radio PET. He was then recruited into the station the moment his friends listened to his collection of music. He quickly learnt and mastered the art of mixing, highly featured on campus gigs playing alongside top national DJ's. His vinyl collection swelled and quickly established himself as a household name in the industry. It was no surprise that he held residency with Umhlobo Wenene on Luks Gidane's party time show every Saturday until he left for Johannesburg in 2006. In Joburg, Mello took off from where he left off as he was regularly featured on Metro FM's Duzi show on Saturdays as a guest DJ (live mixing). His mixes on Metro FM allowed him to play at the best spots across South Africa.

Inspired by the prominent producers in the deep and soulful house space (like Sean McCabe, Reelsoul, Kings of tomorrow, The Layabouts, Opolopo, N'dinga Gaba to name but a few), Master Mello embarked on a production journey that is characterized by groovy basslines. He has incorporated his love for vocal house into his production by featuring some of the best vocalists.
